Competitive Strategy

Giratina is a Ghost/Dragon legendary built around bulk, immunities, and disruption. Its Normal and Fighting immunities create valuable switch-in chances, while its large HP and defensive stats let it absorb many neutral hits. Depending on the format, it can spread burn, phase setup sweepers, clear hazards, or apply Ghost and Dragon pressure without needing to play like a fragile attacker. The weakness profile is Ice, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, and Fairy, all at 2×. Giratina has no 4× weakness from Ghost/Dragon typing. That spread means many different attacking types can threaten it, but its bulk often gives it room to respond if it is not already chipped. Fairy and Dark attackers are especially important because they punish the usual Dragon and Ghost lanes directly. To use Giratina well, bring it into Normal or Fighting attacks, passive physical threats, or targets it can burn or phase. It appreciates Steel or Fairy partners that cover Dragon and Ice pressure, plus Dark-resistant teammates that can absorb Knock Off or strong Dark attacks. To counter Giratina, use super-effective pressure before it spreads status, avoid letting it reset setup attempts for free, and keep hazards or item removal active so its bulk is easier to wear down.
