Dragapult's 142 base Speed makes it an excellent fast attacker and pivot, but its Dragon/Ghost typing is just as important when planning turns. It is immune to Normal and Fighting and resists Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Poison, and Bug, creating useful entries against the right locked move or pivot. In return, Ice, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, and Fairy attacks are super effective. Its defensive stats are only moderate, so a favorable type matchup is an invitation to act, not permission to absorb repeated hits. Decide early whether Dragapult is physical, special, or utility-focused. Dragon Darts pressures through a physical route, while Shadow Ball and Draco Meteor give a special route; U-turn keeps momentum when a dedicated answer enters. Clear Body helps it avoid stat drops from opposing moves or Abilities, and Infiltrator can bypass Substitutes and similar barriers. Those choices change which checks are safe, so avoid revealing coverage without a reason. Its best turns usually force a switch, deny a setup attempt, or bring in a slower teammate safely. Against Dragapult, preserve a healthy Fairy-, Dark-, Ghost-, Ice-, or Dragon-type answer, then identify its attacking side before treating a wall as secure. Faster threats are scarce, so priority, a Choice Scarf user, paralysis, or a bulky switch can be more reliable than racing it. Dark and Fairy partners can cover Ghost and Dragon pressure, while Steel types often help absorb Fairy and Ice attacks. Because Dragon attacks risk opposing Fairy immunities and Ghost attacks meet Dark resistance, Dragapult users should pair it with partners that punish those predictable answers.
