Competitive Strategy

Annihilape is a Fighting/Ghost attacker that often becomes more dangerous the longer it stays involved in a game. Drain Punch gives it recovery while applying Fighting pressure, Rage Fist gives Ghost pressure that can grow after it takes hits, and Bulk Up can turn its natural HP into a real endgame threat. Taunt or similar utility can stop passive answers from healing, phazing, or setting status before Annihilape starts snowballing. The weakness profile is Flying, Psychic, Ghost, and Fairy, all at 2×. Annihilape has no 4× weakness from Fighting/Ghost typing. Its Normal and Fighting immunities are excellent switch-in tools, but Psychic and Fairy attackers can punish it if it tries to set up too casually. Ghost attacks are also important because they hit the Ghost side directly, even when Annihilape looks bulky enough to take neutral contact. To use Annihilape, bring it in through a slow pivot, against a blocked Normal or Fighting move, or after a teammate creates a setup window. Partners that pressure Fairy and Flying targets are especially useful. To counter Annihilape, deny repeated free turns, use Haze, Encore, Taunt, or phazing when available, and keep a strong Flying, Psychic, Ghost, or Fairy attacker healthy enough to force it out before Rage Fist and Bulk Up become unmanageable.

Best Counters

  • Psychic-type attackers that pressure its Fighting side
  • Ghost-type attackers that can win the mirror exchange
  • Fairy-type attackers and bulky Fairy checks
  • Haze, phazing, or Encore users that stop setup
