Competitive Strategy

Corviknight is a defensive pivot whose Flying/Steel typing creates unusually safe entries. It is immune to Ground and Poison, resists ten attacking types, and double-resists Bug and Grass. Those traits let it check many physical attackers, but they do not make every neutral hit harmless: its Special Defense is lower than its Defense, and repeated switching can erase the value of Roost. Start from the type chart, then account for ability, item, hazards, and the opponent's coverage before treating Corviknight as a universal wall. A practical set usually combines Roost with one or two utility choices. Defog can clear hazards but also removes your own, so use it when the board state is worth more than the pressure your hazards provide. U-turn brings a teammate in safely, while Body Press converts Defense investment into damage and Brave Bird prevents it from becoming completely passive. Mirror Armor can reflect certain stat drops, but it does not protect Corviknight from direct Fire or Electric damage. Pressure can instead matter in long games when opponents have limited move PP. Choose the ability and moves for the format rather than assuming one version is always best. Fire and Electric attacks are its two direct type weaknesses. Heatran, Cinderace, Rotom-Wash, and other checks can force it out if they enter safely, while Magnezone can be especially dangerous in formats where trapping applies. Pair Corviknight with a Water-, Ground-, or Dragon-type partner that can answer Fire or Electric pressure, and preserve it when its Ground immunity is essential. When facing it, pressure Roost turns, prevent or punish Defog, and use a special attacker or super-effective coverage rather than repeatedly feeding it resisted contact moves.
